PAIA Manual

Prepared in accordance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ("PAIA") and POPIA

1. Introduction

This PAIA Manual is prepared in accordance with Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 ("PAIA") and explains how members of the public may request access to information held by Tax Edge Consultants.

This Manual also supports compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").

3. PAIA Purpose

PAIA gives individuals the right to access information held by public and private bodies when such information is required to exercise or protect their rights.

5. How to Request Information

To request access to records under PAIA:

  1. Complete the official PAIA Request Form
  2. Submit it to: info@taxedge.co.za
  3. Provide sufficient detail to identify the record requested
  4. Include proof of identity if applicable

6. Decision Timeframes

  • Requests will be processed within 30 days, as required by PAIA
  • We may extend this period once, where justified, and will notify the requester

7. Grounds for Refusal of Access

Access to information may be refused where:

  • It is protected under privacy laws (POPIA)
  • It contains third-party confidential information
  • It is legally privileged
  • Disclosure would prejudice commercial or legal interests
  • It relates to internal deliberations where applicable

8. Fees

In terms of PAIA, fees may apply for:

  • Search and preparation of records
  • Copying and reproduction of documents
  • Postal or electronic delivery costs

A fee notice will be provided where applicable before processing continues.

9. Protection of Personal Information

Where a request involves personal information, it will be processed in accordance with POPIA. Personal information will only be disclosed where legally permitted.
